Make your own environmentally safe air fresheners and household cleaners . Saving the earth with green products that can be made at home is great. You can make a vanilla air freshener that smells nice and is easy to make. First get some cotton balls and pure vanilla extract not the imitation ones. You will need a small jar dish or a bowl. Put the cotton balls into the container and soak them with the vanilla extract. Put the freshener in the area you want to smell nice and after the cotton balls dry out just replace them with a fresh batch. If you want you can just use 1 cotton ball at a time and replace it.
The vanilla freshener works best in closets and bathrooms and your car. If you smell your garbage disposal here is a way to clean the blades and make it smell nice. Take some citrus peels or orange peels with some ice. Put this down the garbage disposal and run the disposal. This will clean the blades and the citrus has a natural acid cleaning power.
You can make a solid air freshener with baking soda and essential oils. Essential oils are peppermint, lemon, and lavender all green products. Get a nice jar or box and put in the baking soda. Put in 5 to 10 drops of your favorite essential oil and mix it up.As the scent gets weaker over time just add more essential oil and mix. Place the air freshener in an area that you want to smell nice.
If you have a pet cat you probably use a litter box. The kitty odor can become quite smelly. Make a mixture of baking soda and essential oil ,eucalyptus,or peppermint are good choices.Take about 2 cups of baking soda and any oil that you like. Put 24 drops of the oil into the baking soda and mix it up.
Place some of the mixture in the bottom of the litter box before you put in the cat litter. After you put in the litter spread the rest on top of the litter. As kitty uses the litter box your pet will keep the fresh odor stirred up. Each time you completely replace the litter add more fresh baking soda with the essential oil.
Baking soda and these essential oils can be made to clean with just add some white vinegar for an all-purpose cleaner that is safe for the environment. When using white distilled vinegar always put the vinegar in last after you have mixed in the oils. You can also use lemon juice to add a fresh scent
